The Marina Bay Sands SkyPark is the long, ship-shaped platform that sits across the tops of the three Marina Bay Sands hotel towers, around 200 metres above Singapore's waterfront. It is home to the famous infinity pool, which is for hotel guests only, but anyone with a ticket can visit the SkyPark Observation Deck for one of the best views of the city skyline, Gardens by the Bay and the ships waiting offshore.
Why visit the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark
Marina Bay Sands opened in 2010, designed by the architect Moshe Safdie, and quickly became one of the most recognisable buildings in Asia. The SkyPark links the three towers and cantilevers out beyond the north tower, and the observation deck is at that end. From here you look straight across Marina Bay to the Merlion, the Fullerton Hotel and the towers of the Central Business District.
Looking the other way you see the Supertrees and domes of Gardens by the Bay, the Singapore Strait and, on clear days, the coast of Indonesia's Riau Islands. The view changes completely after dark, when the city lights up around the bay.
How to get to Marina Bay Sands by MRT
The nearest station is Bayfront, an interchange on the MRT Circle Line and Downtown Line. Exits connect underground to The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. To reach the observation deck, follow the signs through the complex to Hotel Tower 3, where the SkyPark ticket counter and lifts are located. The walk from the platform takes around 5 to 10 minutes.
If you are on the East-West or North-South Line, change to the Downtown or Circle Line at an interchange such as Bugis or Marina Bay, or take a walk along the waterfront promenade from Raffles Place via the Helix Bridge side.
SkyPark tickets and opening hours
The observation deck requires a ticket, which you can buy at the counter in Tower 3 or online in advance on the official website, marinabaysands.com. Booking ahead is wise for sunset slots, which are the most popular. Prices differ for adults, children and seniors, and the deck can close at short notice in bad weather such as thunderstorms.
The infinity pool is reserved for hotel guests. Non-guests can also reach the rooftop by booking a table at one of the bars or restaurants up there, which have their own entry rules and dress codes. Check the official site for current details.
Best time to visit the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark
Late afternoon is the best time to visit the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark. Arrive an hour or so before sunset to see the city in daylight, watch the colours change, then stay for the night view. Weekday visits are generally less crowded than weekends and public holidays.
A visit to the deck usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. Singapore's weather can change fast, so check the forecast and keep some flexibility if storms are expected.
Highlights of a visit
- The skyline view: the classic panorama of the Central Business District across the bay.
- Gardens by the Bay from above: the Supertrees and the two conservatory domes laid out below.
- Spectra: the free evening light and water show on the promenade outside the Event Plaza, best watched from ground level.
- The Shoppes: luxury shopping, a canal with sampan boat rides and plenty of restaurants under one roof.
Tips for your visit
Keep your ticket handy, as it is checked at the lifts and at the deck. Bags go through a security check. The deck is open-air, so bring sunglasses and a hat during the day, and note that it can be windy. If you want to combine the SkyPark with Gardens by the Bay, see the gardens first in daylight, then head up to the deck for sunset and come down in time for the evening light shows. A footbridge links the hotel side of the complex to the gardens, which makes this easy.
Nearby on the same stop
